Karla Hoffman Sharrer and Sarah Gerrol are excited to share some ways you can engage your secondary classroom in hands-on learning and easily differentiate to meet your students where they are.
Sarah Gerrol
Sarah Gerrol attended Virginia Tech, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Education. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and an Ed Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, also from Virginia Tech.
Sarah has held many leadership and service positions including the Competition Robotics Team Coach, Junior Honor Association sponsor, SkillsUSA sponsor, Technology Club sponsor, Girls Who Code Facilitator and Technology Education Department Chair. In 2013 the Roanoke Chapter of the Air Force Association recognized Sarah with their Teacher of the Year Award for demonstrating excellence in the field of aerospace education, science, technology, engineering, or math. More recently, Sarah was recognized for teaching excellence by the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council by receiving their 2014 Outstanding Educator Award. In 2015, Sarah was also recognized as Salem High School's Teacher of the Year. In addition to her contributions the students and staff at Salem High School and Andrew Lewis Middle School, Mrs. Gerrol has also made contributions to the division and the field of education. Karla Hoffman Sharrer
Karla Hoffman Sharrer earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Geosciences from Virginia Tech in 2006 and Masters of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Radford University in 2008. She’s enjoyed teaching Earth Science, Physical Science, and Environmental Ecology in Middle and High Schools.
Over the last 4 years, she has worked in a wide variety of classrooms running stations to help students learn in hands-on methods. She is the inventor of the Omniboard and owner of Greater Than Goods, LLC. |
